Featured Work – Alice Project by Elijah


Elijah is in 3rd grade and has been in TechStart for almost 1 year. He created a short animated film about nuclear energy using the program Alice, which was developed by Carnegie Mellon to introduce students to object orientated programming. Alice lets Elijah demonstrate his knowledge of nuclear energy, his programming skills through character movement and scene changes, and as you'll see in the last portion of his film, his creativity.

About TechStart

TechStart is a free, yearlong after-school program from Technology Access Foundation for students in kindergarten through 8th grade. The focus of TechStart is providing science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) enrichment to underserved children of color through project-based learning and advanced technology tools. Classes are held at schools and computer labs in Highline, Federal Way and Seattle.
